    Nessuno vuole fare la morale, ma sembra che dal passato non impariamo mai. Gli ideali restano, ma vengono stritolati dalle contraddizioni di un dibattito europeo sempre più schizofrenico, mentre le guerre—quelle vere—non sono ancora finite.

    Ci ripetiamo che abbiamo la Costituzione più bella del mondo, eppure non basta proclamarla: andrebbe semplicemente applicata. Ma non è l’unico testo "sacro" a essere sistematicamente ignorato…
    La solita "Europa" in vetrina
    E così, come a ogni cambio di stagione, torna di moda il dibattito sulla "vera" Europa, questa volta con la manifestazione del 15 marzo promossa da Michele Serra e La Repubblica. Un corteo per "difendere l'Europa", per chiedere un’Unione più forte, più unita, più giusta.
    Giusto, in teoria. Ma in pratica?

    Si chiede:
    Un’Europa politicamente più forte.
    Un’Europa che non sia ostaggio delle prepotenze: né di Trump, né dei miliardari della Silicon Valley, né delle minacce russe.
    Un messaggio ai leader europei, affinché ascoltino chi crede ancora nel progetto comunitario.
    Un’Europa di pace, democrazia e giustizia.

    Tutti principi sacrosanti. Ma allora, perché nessuno parla più del "Manifesto di Ventotene"?

    Scritto nel pieno della Seconda guerra mondiale da Altiero Spinelli ed Ernesto Rossi, il Manifesto di Ventotene non chiedeva semplicemente un’Europa unita: chiedeva un'Europa federale, con un governo comune e una politica estera unitaria.
    Oggi, invece di usarlo come bussola, lo mettiamo da parte. Preferiamo parlare di "difendere l’Europa", senza mai chiederci se l’Europa che difendiamo sia davvero quella giusta.

    Perché se l’Unione Europea resta bloccata dai veti nazionali, incapace di agire con una sola voce sulle crisi internazionali, che Europa stiamo proteggendo?

    Chi parteciperà alla manifestazione lo farà probabilmente in buona fede. Ma una domanda va posta: si sta davvero cercando un cambiamento strutturale, o si sta solo rispondendo emotivamente alle crisi del momento?
    Schierarsi contro Putin o Trump non basta a rendere l’Europa più forte. Serve un salto di qualità: un’Unione con un vero governo, non solo un compromesso tra Stati.

    Se questo corteo non solleva il problema alla radice, rischia di essere l’ennesimo grido d'allarme che non lascia traccia.

    Perché io (e molti altri) non ci saremo

    Non si tratta di boicottare una manifestazione, ma di non alimentare l’ennesima contraddizione. L’Europa non si difende con slogan o eventi mediatici, ma con scelte coraggiose e strutturali.

    Prima di discutere di "chi siamo" e della nostra identità europea, forse dovremmo chiudere i conflitti aperti, affrontare le reali emergenze e poi—solo poi—ragionare sul futuro della nostra vecchia, fragile Europa.

    La saggezza popolare suggerisce che chi è più maturo lo dimostri con i fatti. Ma osservando la gestione della crisi internazionale, la maturità sembra un valore in declino. Se la pace deve dipendere da logiche di potere e dinamiche mediatiche, allora lo scenario è tutt'altro che rassicurante. L’incontro di ieri alla Casa Bianca—se così si può definire—ha rappresentato un ulteriore episodio di imbarazzo e stallo, con la cacciata di Zelensky e l'annullamento della conferenza stampa di rito. Un momento che, al di là delle simpatie e delle narrazioni di parte, impone riflessioni profonde su ciò che è rimasto della diplomazia internazionale.

    Il tramonto della diplomazia tradizionale. L'incontro tra il presidente-tycoon Trump e il "soldato" Zelensky ha sancito definitivamente un cambio di paradigma: il dialogo diplomatico, inteso come disciplina dell'equilibrio e del confronto strategico, sembra superato.     L'industria farmaceutica, petrolifera, carbonifera, chimica... le ho toccate con mano durante la mia carriera. Hanno corrotto ognuna delle agenzie che le dovrebbero vigilare, diventando pupazzi di quelle industrie che dovrebbero regolamentare
