The "Setup: Data Recovery" mission is the second VIP Contract mission in GTA Online’s The Contract DLC, following the introductory "On Course" mission GTA V Online Money. It tasks players with infiltrating the FIB building to retrieve crucial data linked to Dr. Dre’s stolen phone.

After completing "On Course," players receive a call from Franklin inviting them back to the Agency. A cutscene introduces Franklin, Lamar, Imani, and Chop discussing the need to break into the FIB headquarters to install software that will help track Dre’s phone. Players then start the mission from the Agency’s computer under VIP Contracts.

The mission begins with players arriving at the FIB building via helicopter, landing on the rooftop. From there, you enter the building through a skylight. The first task is to locate the communications room in the eastern corner of the rooftop area. To gain access, you must use an explosive to blow open the door.

Inside the comms room, you interact with a computer to begin installing software. This triggers a defense phase where you must hold your position against waves of FIB agents trying to stop you. A good strategy is to stay inside the comms room or take cover just outside the doorway, carefully managing your health and ammo. There is no limit on retries if you die during this phase.

Once the installation bar fills, you must grab a hard drive from the comms room and make your way back outside. The escape route involves climbing a ladder to the rooftop again. Here, you face heavy resistance, including attack helicopters and NOOSE agents. Taking cover, using homing launchers or miniguns, and carefully advancing to the helicopter is crucial GTA 5 Money.

Players can choose to escape by helicopter or use a parachute to skydive off the building. After escaping the wanted level, return to the Agency with the hard drive to complete the mission.
