Pre-Hunt Meeting

Before each night hunt, we hold a pre-hunt meeting to plan the timing in advance, understand the hunting location, and provide training on essential night hunting knowledge. This includes understanding how your target moves at night, recognizing animal tracks through night vision devices, identifying vital shooting areas, and so on. Hunting is like warfare; knowing your prey inside and out is crucial for success in every battle.

Specific Equipment

Specific equipment varies depending on the individual and the target game. For firearms and bows, choose the caliber based on the size of the prey. For small game like rabbits, small-caliber rimfire rifles such as .22 are suitable. For wild boar, common calibers include .308, .223, and 7.62x39.

For wild boar hunting, AR15 series semi-automatic rifles are currently the best choice. This allows for continuous firing when encountering a large number of boars. Additionally, wild boars are resilient, and a single shot may not be fatal; AR series rifles allow for quick follow-up shots.

Night Vision Devices

Night vision devices and thermal imagers are invaluable tools for hunters. As a dedicated device for nighttime use, night vision is a must-have for many hunting enthusiasts. Theoretically, a night vision scope, which combines the scope and night vision device, is the optimal solution, allowing hunters to see and aim at prey in the dark.

At the same time, there is always a temperature difference between an animal's body and the surrounding environment. Thermal imaging utilizes this temperature difference to create a distinct infrared thermal map. Observation is unaffected by complete darkness, adverse weather, and obstructions like smoke, dust, and fog, enabling true day and night, all-weather target detection and observation, with detection ranges extending to hundreds of meters.

Hunting Timing

Besides good equipment, choosing the right hunting time can also make a significant difference. Experienced veteran hunters know that the first and last few days of each month are the best times for night hunting. Days with strong moonlight generally yield little to no harvest, although going out for exercise is still an option, but the chances of success are significantly reduced.

Night Hunting Precautions

Night hunting has its own unique appeal, offering excitement and thrill, but it also comes with increased risks. News of inexperienced hunters accidentally injuring others during night hunts is not uncommon, so safety is paramount. Here are some simple and practical precautions:

1. Carry a small flashlight for illuminating your path in emergencies.

2. When night hunting in the jungle, avoid doing so before the first frost and after the awakening of insects (around the vernal equinox) due to the abundance of venomous insects, which increases the risk of injury.

3. When approaching a hunting area and spotting an animal at night, always identify the animal first. If there is any doubt, do not shoot.
