FNPT Full Port Ball Valves: The Future of Precision Flow Control

The full port design emerged as a solution to the limitations of standard ball valve configurations. In a standard (or reduced) port valve, the opening through the ball is smaller than the internal diameter of the pipe, resulting in a restriction of flow. While this design may work for low-pressure systems, it can cause issues in high-flow applications by generating turbulence and increasing pressure loss.

The full port ball valve, on the other hand, allows fluid to flow without any restrictions, ensuring minimal pressure loss and maintaining the system's overall efficiency. Full port brass ball valves are particularly favored in situations where the application demands unrestricted flow, such as in water systems, gas pipelines, and chemical processing. This design became a turning point in ball valve technology, pushing manufacturers to refine their designs to meet the higher demands of industrial and commercial users.

While the design of ball valves saw significant improvements, the material of choice has been equally important in shaping their capabilities. Brass, as a material, has played a crucial role in the development of ball valves.

Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc, known for its excellent corrosion resistance, making it ideal for use in environments where exposure to water or other corrosive substances is frequent. It is also more cost-effective compared to stainless steel, yet it offers superior strength compared to other materials like plastic, making it a perfect choice for valves that require high durability and long service life.

The use of brass in full port ball valves allowed manufacturers to offer a balance between cost, performance, and corrosion resistance. As industries began to demand more efficient, durable, and affordable solutions, full port brass ball valves became the go-to choice for many applications, particularly in residential and light industrial uses.

• Forged brass body for durability and corrosion resistance
• 304 Stainless Steel ball for longer life
• Full port for maximum flow
• Blowout-proof nickel plated metal stem
• NSF/ANSI 61 and NSF/ANSI 372 Approved
