Duke University–AviaGames Collaboration Studies Solitaire Clash
AviaGaAmes has announced a research collaboration with Duke University’s Pratt School of Engineering Product Lab to explore how mobile skill-based games may support cognitive engagement among aging populations. The study will focus on player behavior in Solitaire Clash, one of the company’s most widely played titles. As more adults turn to mobile games for entertainment and mental stimulation, the research aims to better understand how structured gameplay experiences may contribute to discussions around healthy aging and digital engagement.
Through May 2026, a team of Duke engineering students will conduct student-led interviews, behavioral analysis, and research synthesis centered on player activity in Solitaire Clash. The research will examine gameplay trends and player perspectives to better understand how elements such as sustained attention, decision-making, motivation, and social interaction appear within structured mobile gameplay. Insights gathered from the Solitaire Clash community will help researchers evaluate how interactive digital play may influence engagement among older players.
“Avia is excited to work with Duke University’s renowned Pratt School of Engineering Product Lab to study cognitive engagement and player behavior in aging populations,” said CEO Vickie Chen, Founder of Avia. With more than 60 million downloads and over 450 million tournaments each month, Solitaire Clash provides a large and active player base that allows researchers to observe gameplay patterns and engagement across a broad audience.
