Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery system

Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery systems have become an essential part of modern energy-efficient buildings. These systems provide continuous ventilation while recovering heat from outgoing air to improve indoor comfort and reduce energy consumption. Because MVHR systems operate continuously throughout the year, they eventually experience wear and tear that can affect their performance. When problems occur, professional MVHR repairs become necessary to restore proper airflow, maintain energy efficiency, MVHR repairs and ensure the ventilation system continues operating as designed.

An MVHR system works by extracting stale air from rooms such as kitchens, bathrooms, and utility areas while supplying fresh filtered air into living spaces and bedrooms. The system uses a heat exchanger to capture warmth from the outgoing air and transfer it to the incoming air supply. This process helps maintain comfortable indoor temperatures without losing excessive heat. However, if any component within the system begins to malfunction, the overall ventilation performance can decline significantly. MVHR repairs address these faults and help restore the system to full operational efficiency.

One of the most common issues that require MVHR repairs is restricted airflow. Dust, debris, and pollutants can gradually accumulate inside the system’s filters, ducts, and internal components. When airflow becomes restricted, the ventilation unit must work harder to circulate air, which can reduce efficiency and increase energy consumption. Repair technicians often begin by inspecting filters and internal airflow pathways to determine whether blockages or mechanical faults are causing the issue.

Another common reason for MVHR repairs involves fan or motor problems. The fans inside an MVHR system are responsible for maintaining balanced airflow between supply and extract ducts. Over time, fan motors may become worn or damaged, resulting in reduced airflow or unusual noise during operation. Repair specialists inspect fan units carefully and may replace worn components to restore normal system performance.

Heat exchanger faults can also require professional repair work. The heat exchanger is the core component that allows MVHR systems to recover heat from outgoing air. If the exchanger becomes blocked with debris or suffers internal damage, the system’s energy recovery capability can decrease. MVHR repairs often involve cleaning the exchanger or replacing damaged components to ensure efficient heat transfer continues.
