Even for these niche users, full-color thermal printers have drawbacks. They require specialized consumables (multi-color ribbons) that are costly and hard to source. Maintenance is also more complex, as multiple printheads need regular cleaning and calibration. For most businesses, the trade-offs aren’t worth it—inkjet and laser printers offer better value for full-color needs.
