Every Block Blast run is a negotiation with risk. Spend it wisely and you’ll stack multi-line clears; blow it early and you’ll be boxed in. Treat your board like a budget and your pieces like investments.

Set your risk profile:

• Green board (open center, multiple lanes): build for combos; create wells and intersections.
• Yellow board (some congestion): mix safe clears with selective setup.
• Red board (tight spaces): cash out—take guaranteed placements that buy room.

Piece archetypes (conceptual, not official):

• Anchors (3x3, long bars): Big payoff, demand prepared flats.
• Framers (L, T, zig shapes): Shape lanes and set up intersections.
• Fillers (1x1, 1x2, 2x2): Convert “almost” into points; fix micro-gaps.

Combo architecture:

• Intersections are multipliers. Arrange near-complete row and column so a single piece clears both.
• Wells done right: Leave a single column or row intentionally, then drop a matching piece for a two-line burst.

Rules of engagement:

• Never orphan a cell. A single square surrounded by blocks is a liability until a rare 1x1 arrives.
• Don’t “prime” more than two big blocks at once. One staging area for anchors is manageable; two becomes debt.
• Lead with the awkward piece first if it unlocks better placements for the others in the set.

Exit strategies:

• If a plan takes more than two future pieces to complete, it’s too expensive for a cluttered board.
• Convert setups into clears before the queue flips to unpredictable shapes.
