For example, the tensile strength of steel determines whether it can be used safely in skyscrapers or bridges.

A carbon fiber composite designed for aircraft wings must meet stringent performance thresholds, and tensile tests confirm whether the innovation can withstand operational loads.

Moreover, tensile testing plays a vital role in failure analysis. When structures or products fail unexpectedly, engineers perform post-mortem tensile tests on samples to identify whether the material met specifications or if defects were introduced during manufacturing.
