When Israel's war on Gaza began in October last year, Dr. Bursh was working at Al-Shifa Hospital as the head of orthopedic surgery. He worked around the clock, performing surgeries on Palestinians injured by Israel's horrific bombing campaign..!!! When Israeli troops besieged Al-Shifa in November, the staff were forced to flee. Bursh fled on foot to the Indonesian hospital in Bait Lahia, to continue caring for the injured patients. He documented his experiences on video, including the moment Israel bombed the hospital, killing 12 people. He was later forced to leave the Indonesian hospital as well, and moved to Al-Awda Hospital in northern Gaza, where he was kidnapped by Israeli forces. After Dr Bursh left the hospital, Israeli soldiers "called him by name" and then "brutally" took him away, Obeid said.
