Certo, da decenni siamo abituati a questa faccia della kermesse, in competizione eterna con Cannes. Ma oggi la sfida non può limitarsi all’estetica: deve riguardare la libertà di espressione, la difesa dei diritti umani e la capacità dell’arte di denunciare.

Se la musica ha già dato voce a Gaza con prese di posizione forti da parte di artisti italiani e internazionali, ora anche la settima arte sceglie di schierarsi. Merito del collettivo Venice4Palestine (V4P), che sta raccogliendo adesioni e consensi crescenti. Tra queste spicca anche la madrina della 82ª edizione, Emanuela Fanelli, chiamata a un compito tanto simbolico quanto politico: trasformare il palcoscenico veneziano in una cassa di risonanza globale per un appello al #cessateilfuoco e alla #pace.

In meno di 24 ore, l’appello di Venice4Palestine – “Non è più possibile restare in silenzio di fronte al massacro in corso in Palestina” – ha raccolto oltre 1.200 firme. Una mobilitazione senza precedenti nel mondo del cinema, con nomi come Marco Bellocchio, Laura Morante, Valeria Golino, Toni e Beppe Servillo, Carlo Verdone, Miriam Leone, Fiorella Mannoia, Alba e Alice Rohrwacher, Gabriele Muccino, Abel Ferrara, Roger Waters e moltissimi altri.

Attori, registi, musicisti, scrittori e intellettuali si uniscono per chiedere alla Biennale e alla Mostra di assumere una posizione “chiara, visibile e solidale” rispetto a Gaza. Perché il cinema non è un lusso per pochi, ma un dovere civile: farsi strumento di consapevolezza, riflessione e resistenza.

Il collettivo domanda che Venezia non sia una “vetrina vuota”, ma che apra spazi di discussione e confronto sui crimini in Palestina. La mobilitazione del 30 agosto, sostenuta dalla rete Artisti #NoBavaglio, sarà un momento cruciale: un banco di prova per capire se la Mostra saprà ancora incarnare lo spirito politico e di resistenza che in passato ha reso il cinema un linguaggio universale di lotta.

La Biennale, dal canto suo, ha risposto dichiarandosi “aperta al dialogo”, ricordando come già negli ultimi anni siano stati presentati film che affrontano le urgenze del nostro tempo, da The Voice of Hind Rajab di Kaouther Ben Hania a Of Dogs and Men di Dani Rosenberg. Ma ora il passo richiesto è più radicale: non basta proiettare, serve prendere posizione.

❗️❗️Mentre la politica resta silente, incapace di schierarsi, è ancora una volta l’arte a compiere il gesto più radicale: dare voce a chi non ce l’ha. Forse un festival non cambierà gli equilibri mondiali, ma può diventare megafono di un messaggio necessario.

❗️❗️In un Paese dove il cinema sembra ormai confinato a dibattiti nostalgici o ad “oggetto fuori moda”, almeno le sue platee e i suoi riflettori possono trasformarsi in teatri di resistenza, capaci di gridare in faccia a governi e istituzioni la loro colpevole inazione.

Confido che questa Mostra non sia solo una parentesi di luccichio e mondanità , ma che sappia tornare a incarnare il ruolo più autentico della Cultura: rompere il silenzio e scuotere coscienze.

E forse – chissà – se avessimo ancora il maestro Pasolini, avremmo parole ancora più taglienti per raccontare questo nostro tempo così fragile e contraddittorio.
