“Abbiamo ucciso ragazzini, bambini e anziani disarmati. Al primo cenno di rimorso i comandanti ci spingevano a sputare sui cadaveri".
Le confessioni dei soldati riservisti israeliani di ritorno da Gaza,raccolte dal giornale israeliano Haaretz ,raccontano esecuzioni di civili, torture e abusi sistematici:

"Ero all’inferno, ma non ne ero consapevole. C’erano attacchi aerei ogni singolo minuto. Le bombe da una tonnellata cadevano e ci facevano battere il cuore. Non so quanti palestinesi abbiamo ucciso in quei giorni”. Era il dicembre 2023, periodo in cui l’esercito israeliano era un mattatoio a pieno ritmo: tra il 7 e il 26 dicembre si stima siano stati uccisi circa 29 mila palestinesi (Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor).

“Ci venivano incontro con le braccia alzate, vestiti di stracci, visibilmente disarmati — racconta un altro dei riservisti. E ogni volta che questo accadeva avevamo l’ordine di sparare. Ci avvicinavamo ai corpi senza vita di ragazzini, donne e anziani senza provare eccessivo rimorso...Se uno di noi mostrava segni di titubanza o di disaccordo, il comandante dell’unità ci mostrava quel che andava fatto scalciando i cadaveri o sputando loro addosso”. E commentando: “Questo è ciò che succede a chi offende Israele”.
"Abbiamo catturato un palestinese sospettato di essere un agente di Hamas. All’arrivo dell’Unità 504 è stato spogliato interamente e torturato con fascette strette attorno ai genitali”. Le urla erano disumane, racconta. Alla fine deve aver parlato o, più semplicemente, ha ceduto. È stato portato via.
Da quel giorno le urla non se ne vanno dalla mia testa – racconta Eitan.
“Hanno distrutto tutto ciò che pensavo dell’esercito, tutto ciò che pensavo di noi, di me. Se siamo in grado di fare qualcosa di così terribile senza che i civili lo sappiano, quali altri segreti stiamo nascondendo?”

I soldati riservisti (comunque terroristi...)che hanno testimoniato ad Haaretz sono tutti passati per un reparto psichiatrico.

"We killed unarmed children, teenagers, and elderly people. At the first sign of remorse, the commanders urged us to spit on the corpses."

The confessions of Israeli reserve soldiers returning from Gaza, collected by the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, recount civilian executions, torture, and systematic abuse:

"I was in hell, but I wasn't aware of it. There were airstrikes every single minute. The one-ton bombs fell and made our hearts race. I don't know how many Palestinians we killed in those days." It was December 2023, a period in which the Israeli army was a full-scale slaughterhouse: between December 7 and 26, an estimated 29,000 Palestinians were killed (Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor).

“They came at us with their arms raised, dressed in rags, visibly unarmed,” another reservist recounts. “And every time this happened, we were ordered to shoot. We approached the lifeless bodies of children, women, and elderly people without feeling too much remorse... If one of us showed signs of hesitation or disagreement, the unit commander would show us what to do by kicking the corpses or spitting on them.” And commenting: “This is what happens to those who offend Israel.”

“We captured a Palestinian suspected of being a Hamas agent. When Unit 504 arrived, he was stripped completely and tortured with zip ties around his genitals.” The screams were inhuman, he recounts. Eventually, he must have spoken, or more simply, he gave in. He was taken away.

Since that day, the screams have stuck in my head,” Eitan recounts. “They destroyed everything I thought about the army, everything I thought about us, about myself. If we can do something so terrible without civilians knowing, what other secrets are we hiding?”

The reserve soldiers (terrorists, after all) who testified to Haaretz all spent time in a psychiatric ward.
