How does the MO machine handle the application of adhesive on thick cores?
Applying adhesive to a thick, porous surface like rock wool is very different from coating a smooth film. The MO series typically employs one of two methods:
-
Roll Coating (for facings): The adhesive is applied to the facing material (foil or fabric) using precision kiss-roll or gravure rollers just before it contacts the insulation core. This is the most common method.
-
Spray or Curtain Coating (for cores): For open-structured materials, the MO machine can be equipped with a spray system or curtain coater that applies a controlled layer of adhesive directly onto the surface of the insulation board. This ensures the glue penetrates the fibrous surface just enough to create a strong mechanical bond without soaking through.
-
Heated Nip Rolls: After the facing and core meet, they pass through a heated nip roller. The heat reactivates or cures the adhesive, while the pressure ensures full contact, even on uneven surfaces.
