Copper coils offer significantly longer lifespans than aluminum in most HVAC applications, justifying their higher initial cost. Copper’s physical stability ensures a service life of over 15 years, even in harsh coastal high-salt or industrial high-pollution environments—one coastal commercial complex’s copper-coil ACs showed no major corrosion after 18 years.
Aluminum coils last 8-12 years in dry, controlled indoor settings but require frequent maintenance. In high-humidity or corrosive areas, their lifespan shrinks to 5-7 years. Copper’s durability stems from its resistance to physical wear and corrosion, while aluminum’s softer structure and oxide layer vulnerability lead to shorter lifespans. For long-term property ownership, copper’s longevity reduces replacement costs. Click here to know more.
