Path of Exile 2 Scourge of the Skies Defeat Guide
The Scourge of the Skies fight in Path of Exile 2 is one of those battles where you quickly realise that staying alive is far more important than squeezing in extra hits. With the new dodge roll system, movement is everything. You are constantly reading the boss’s tells, shifting position, and picking your moment to strike. If you are not paying attention, a single mistake can wipe you out. Many players stock up on PoE 2 Currency before even attempting this fight, just to make sure their gear and flasks can handle the punishment. The arena changes between phases, so you have to adapt fast or you will be caught out.
In the opening phase, you are stuck on a moving platform while the Scourge flies alongside, throwing out attacks in a set order. Space is tight, so dodging is not just helpful – it is essential. When you see it pull back a claw, that is your cue to roll straight through the swipe rather than trying to outrun it. If it hangs back and starts firing a spread of projectiles, do not stand still – keep moving and look for gaps. The beam attack is the real killer here: it charges up at one end and sweeps across. You need to be on the opposite side and ready to dodge if the beam covers the whole platform.
Once you have dealt enough damage, the fight drops to the ground in a wider, circular arena. It feels like a relief at first, but the boss is much more aggressive here. The Ground Slam is easy to spot – it jumps or raises its fists, and the impact zone lights up. Get out of there fast. The Furious Charge is a straight-line rush that is simple to sidestep, and it leaves the boss open for a couple of hits while it recovers. The most dangerous move in this phase is the arena-wide explosion. It has a long wind-up, giving you just enough time to sprint for the edge where there is often a safe spot. If you hesitate, you are done for.
What makes this fight tricky is not just the damage output but how quickly you have to switch from dodging to attacking. In phase one, you are reacting to tight-space patterns. In phase two, you are reading bigger AoEs and punishing recovery windows.
The key is to stay calm, watch the animations, and only commit to damage when you are sure you will not get clipped. Many players underestimate how much stamina and focus it takes to get through both phases without slipping up. If you go in prepared, keep your movement sharp, and maybe even buy PoE 2 Currency for better gear, you will find the fight far more manageable.
