In January 2024, Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action set aside EUR 200 million for the “Smart Home Initiative 2025.” This money helps pay for IoT-based appliances and building systems. Households that meet the rules can get as much as EUR 1,000 for each approved smart device they put in, like certified thermostats, lighting, and security items. Data shared in June 2024 shows that 46 percent of German homes now have at least one connected device. Also, 80 percent of people said they are open to using AI-powered solutions.
