Numerosi uomini incappucciati protestano contro una manifestazione islamofoba a Londra

Sabato a Londra si sono svolte controproteste intorno a un raduno del partito britannico UKIP (United Kingdom Independence Party), che sostiene una politica migratoria più severa ed è considerato critico verso l'Islam. La marcia originariamente prevista nel quartiere di Whitechapel, a est di Londra, è stata spostata dalla polizia per motivi di sicurezza nel quartiere occidentale di Knightsbridge.

A Whitechapel si sono comunque radunati centinaia di uomini per lo più incappucciati, molti con bandiere palestinesi e bangladesi, che gridavano "Allahu Akbar" e dichiaravano di voler difendere la loro comunità.

Contemporaneamente, i sostenitori dell'UKIP hanno sfilato per Knightsbridge. Il loro leader Nick Tenconi ha chiesto in un discorso, tra l'altro, di negare l'ingresso agli "invasori arabi", di agire contro l'islamismo e il comunismo, di avviare deportazioni di massa e di riconquistare la Gran Bretagna in una "nona crociata". I partecipanti scandivano slogan come "Riprendiamoci il nostro paese" e portavano bandiere britanniche e croci.
